Ep. 63: Earfeel

This week's episode is a good old-fashioned rambler filled with interesting discoveries (well, at least Josh and Emily thought so). Josh has not only improved his Flame Lvl 1 spell, but he's stumbled upon a new use for it; meanwhile, both hosts coin some new vocabulary, announce an upcoming crossover with PixelTunes Radio, and finally settle on the true nature of their mysterious karaoke machine. Try to stick with Josh and Emily as they get into long-winded discussions about SoundFonts, gaming subtext, football terminology, and war analogies, but if it gets a little boring, they hope the VGM and karaoke earfeels make it all worthwhile.

  1. Josh and Emily,
I LOVE seeing your show pop up on Thursday night/Friday morning, because I get to listen to it on the Friday morning commute or the early hours of my shift. Frankly, it MAKES my Fridays.

That said, I just love VGMJB in general, no matter when it shows up. I'd rather listen to your show at a later date than listen to it on Friday, knowing it's killing you guys to keep that schedule. Like any good relationship, if you guys are happy doing what you're doing, then it benefits me in the long run.

Lastly, Emily, you've already recorded a rap. I couldn't find it, but I'm pretty sure it's dungeon themed. I remember it was so fast that you couldn't sing it, so the result was pretty much a rap....and I remember it was good!

    1. Found it! The episode: Stuck in a Dungeon. The backing track: Dungeonland. The Karaoke: Dungeons for Sale!

      All hail Keyglyph, the protokaraokerapper!

    2. I feel the same regarding the Friday release. I love it on Fridays, but release it whenever you need to.

  2. I echo ND's sentiments completely. I look forward to listening to the show on Friday mornings during my crappy hour-long commute. In fact, I have corresponded with Mr. Nemo on Friday at like, 7:15 am EST about a VGMJB episode!

But, before I had this job I always listened on Saturday mornings with my daughter. So I am happy either way. Just keeping doing the show :).

And now I have a new perspective on what it takes to churn out a podcast (and I don't even do my own editing). Whatever it takes to avoid burnout.

Oh, p.s. I enjoyed the episode too...

  3. Shadow of the Colossus is my favorite game. I went crazy-nerdy for a while and tried my hand at writing epic poetry about my adventures in Shadow of the Colossus. You can read some of it here:

I'm embarrassed by it and proud of it at the same time.

  4. I'll echo the sentiment that I like getting VGMJukebox ahead of a weekday because I generally only listen to podcasts on my commute. If it does move to the weekend though, I'll just have a Monday morning podcast instead of a Friday morning one. No big.

  5. Hey, thanks for choosing Winning Shot for the vgm karaoke! It's no Ganbare Golf Boys but there is some good stuff on that soundtrack.
